Two-alarm Middle River house failure caused by electrical failure from charging e-bikes

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—Investigators have determined that a Saturday morning, two-alarm fire in Middle River was caused by an electrical failure related to the charging of e-bikes

The blaze sent a resident and firefighter to area hospitals.

At just before 6 a.m. on Saturday, firefighters responded to the 9800-block of Decatur Road (21220) for a report of a dwelling fire.



Upon arrival, units found heavy fire conditions rapidly spreading across multiple townhomes.

Approximately eighty fire and EMS personnel responded and brought the fire under control at just before 6:30 a.m.

The Red Cross was requested to assist 9 adults and 5 children displaced by the fire.
