Councilman Marks, police look to stop illegal dumping at Middle River intersection

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—Councilman David Marks on Sunday announced that he’s taking steps to stop illegal dumping at one Middle River intersection.

At Councilman Marks’ request, the Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Transportation has initiated an effort to remove and block future dumping at the intersection of Stevens Road and Eastern Avenue.

On June 22, DPWT removed one-half ton of construction materials dumped at the intersection.  The faded “No Dumping” sign will be replaced, with plans for new signage to be installed at the area.

Additionally, about six feet of undergrowth has been cut from the road edge, with plans to go back and trim more of the vegetation, which will help the county better monitor future dumping.

The Baltimore County Police Department will also be increasing its patrols at night, when dumping usually occurs.

“I would like to thank our county personnel for all their help, and local residents who are voluntarily removing debris,” said Councilman Marks. “If you are dumping here—please remember eyes are out for activity! Use the landfill and other legal sites.”
