Rain, thunderstorm chances to increase through late week

BALTIMORE, MD—Some unsettled weather will likely bring some much-needed rain to the Baltimore area this week.

The National Weather Service says shower and thunderstorm chances will increase through late week.

Around 1-3″ of rain is expected from Wednesday through Friday.  About 2-5″ is expected along the crest of the Blue Ridge as well as in central Virginia.

Forecasters say isolated instances of flooding are possible.

Cooler than normal temperatures are expected through Thursday with more typical summertime temperatures and higher thunderstorm chances on Friday and Saturday.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, much of central Maryland is in the “moderate drought” category, so any rainfall is welcome.
