Maryland ranked among most patriotic states in America

BALTIMORE, MD—With the Fourth of July approaching but America troubled by issues like high inflation and elevated homicide rates, the personal-finance website WalletHub this week released its report on 2023’s Most Patriotic States in America.

Maryland came in at No. 12 on the list.  Virginia topped the list, with Montana coming in at No. 2.

To determine where Americans have the most red, white and blue pride, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 13 key indicators of patriotism.

The data set ranges from the state’s military enlistees and veterans to the share of adults who voted in the 2020 presidential election to AmeriCorps volunteers per capita.

Below are some additional highlights from the report.

Patriotism in Maryland (1=Most Patriotic; 25=Avg.):

  • 21st – Average Number of Military Enlistees per 1,000 Civilian Adults
  • 15th – Active-Duty Military Personnel per 100,000 Civilian Adults
  • 3rd – Peace Corps Volunteers per Capita
  • 5th – % of Adults Who Voted in 2020 Presidential Election
