ESSEX, MD—A Baltimore man has been convicted of murdering an Essex woman inside her home last year.
Tavon Howard, 30, was convicted by a jury on Tuesday of first-degree murder in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County.
On April 14, 2022, officers with the Baltimore County Police Department were called to 14 Windjammer Court (21221) after a relative of Bradyna Henson had found her dead inside of her residence. She had been shot in the head, neck and chest. Shell casings of a .45-caliber gun were recovered at the scene of the shooting.
Investigators determined that Henson had been in a prior tumultuous and violent relationship with Howard and that he had caused damage to her property. Surveillance video and telephone records disclosed that Howard was at her residence in the early morning hours of April 13, 2022. It was at this time that Howard killed Henson and left her body there until her discovery the next day.
On April 15, the police located Howard and pursued him after he fled in a vehicle. He was eventually apprehended. The handgun used to kill Henson was located inside of the car.
“The tragedy of the loss of the life of Bradyna Henson will never be outweighed by the comfort in at least knowing that this violent man has now been convicted of her killing,” said State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger. “This case demonstrates the importance of the efforts of the police and the prosecutors in my office to fight for the continued protection of victims of domestic violence.”
Sentencing has been set for October 24, 2023. The Defendant faces a maximum penalty of life without the possibility of parole.
