BALTIMORE, MD—The Maryland School for the Blind will hold its 170th commencement on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.
The ceremony consists of conferring diplomas, certificates, and awards, with remarks from Mr. W. Robert Hair, MSB Superintendent, and Keynote Speaker Team USA Paralympian in Judo, and Tik Tok celebrity, Anthony Ferraro.
Anthony is a blind athlete and was the subject of the film “A Shot In The Dark,” he is also well known as a skateboarder, musician, and content creator with over 1.3 million Tik Tok followers. Anthony is training for the upcoming Paralympic Games set for Paris in 2024.
Other highlights include Class President James Quade’s address to the class of 2023. Special awards will be presented to several students who exhibited leadership qualities and academic excellence throughout their years at MSB, including the MSB Alumni Award presented by Lou Smith, President of the MSB Alumni Association, and the Staff Commendation Awards presented by Dr. Joshua Irzyk, Director of Education.
