NOTTINGHAM, MD—A popular, pet-oriented art show will soon be returning to White Marsh.
Through the 10th Annual Kindness for Paws Art Show at White Marsh Mall (on the first floor by Macy’s Home Store), community members can purchase portraits of adopted animals created by local students and teachers, and the funds raised will benefit the Maryland SPCA.
Kindness for Paws is one of the service-learning projects options imbedded into the Baltimore County Public Schools’ middle school art curriculum.
This year’s Kindness for Paws will take place in person from 12-3 p.m. on Sunday, May 21. Student artwork will be sold for $10 each and teacher artwork for $20 each. The art will go on display beginning on Saturday, May 13, during mall business hours.
From May 13-31, community members can go online to purchase digital downloads of student artwork ($5 each) and teacher artwork ($10 each). The sale will be larger than ever with 2,232 pieces of art from 48 public and private schools and 60 teachers.
Before the in-person sale begins, Baltimore County Councilman David Marks will present an award to Molly Schappel, a visual arts educator at Perry Hall Middle School and the founder of Kindness for Paws, as well as additional awards to participating art teachers. The awards ceremony will take place at White Marsh Mall on Sunday, May 21, from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
