Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for Baltimore area

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Baltimore area.

The watch will be in effect until 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Forecasters say a strong cold front approaching the area will increase the risk for showers and thunderstorms, some of which may become severe.

The main threat will be damaging winds. However, the stronger storms may pose the risk of large hail and even a few brief tornadoes.

Residents should stay tuned to local forecasts throughout the day.
