Retiree claims winning $700K lottery ticket sold in Baltimore County

BALTIMORE, MD—It’s not a million dollars, but in terms of lottery winnings, one man’s $713,088 FAST PLAY progressive jackpot prize is the next best thing. A player from Baltimore and his wife are ready to cruise after winning the progressive jackpot on April 10 in the FAST PLAY Extreme Green game.

“We’ll go on vacation, do what my wife wants to do,” the winner said, describing their plans for the prize. They are both long retired and comfortable, so the windfall is a nice addition to their retirement fund.

Before 2020, the couple were regulars on the ocean cruise circuit, generally going on two outings a year. They’ve been looking forward to resuming their cruise vacations and their Maryland Lottery winnings will make that a bit easier. In the meantime, the husband says he’ll continue playing Maryland Lottery games.

“I don’t see that I’ll ever stop playing,” he said.

The winner enjoys games that result in knowing quickly whether he has won. Specifically, he favors Racetrax and FAST PLAY games. The winner bought his lucky $20 Extreme Green ticket at Pantry One Food Mart & Deli at 5100 Old Court Road in Randallstown.

The Extreme Green ticket went on sale Jan. 2 and the progressive jackpot of $713,088 was the first of 15 won in the game. As of April 13, the progressive jackpot had increased to more than $257,000 for the next progressive jackpot. The progressive jackpots start at $250,000 and increase with the sale of each ticket until a progressive jackpot-winning ticket is sold. The Extreme Green game also has 33 $10,000 prizes available.
