BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Baltimore area.
The watch covers all of central Maryland and will be in effect until 10 p.m. on Thursday night.
Forecasters say thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail are possible late Thursday afternoon and into the evening hours. The severe storm risk has shifted northward toward the Baltimore area.
Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph could lead to downed trees and power lines. Large hail and heavy rain are also possible.
