Community member holds private fundraiser, generates over $6,000 for Bowleys Quarter Volunteer Fire

BOWLEYS QUARTERS, MD—When Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Rescue & Marine needed funds to replace an aging defibrillator on one of its units, community member Steve Hamilton swung into action.

After Hamilton’s initial efforts were unsuccessful, though, he decided to host a private fundraiser.

In doing so, he was able to surpass his initial goal of $5,000 and raise a total of $6,115 for BQVFD.

The money will be utilized to provide their emergency response vehicle with mobile defibrillators.

In addition, while the fire company was posting about raising funds on their local community page, a new community member reached out and donated $2,100 check to BQVFD to cover one of the defibrillators outright.

“In total, Mr. Hamilton’s willingness to take action raised a total of $8,215 to advance our EMS service in the community,” BQVFD wrote on Facebook.

Additional information, including the businesses who stepped up to donate, can be found below.
