6 BCPS schools closed as manhunt continues, injured officer released from hospital

COCKEYSVILLE, MD—Six BCPS schools will be closed on Thursday as the manhunt continues for the man who discharged his firearm and injured an officer during a Cockeysville standoff on Wednesday.

The following schools will be closed on February 9, 2023:



  • Cockeysville Middle School
  • Dulaney High School
  • Mays Chapel Elementary School
  • Padonia International Elementary School
  • Warren Elementary school
  • Pot Spring Elementary School

Schools and offices are closed for the students and all staff of those schools. There will be no before- or after-school programs.

Authorities are still searching for 24-year-old David Emory Linthicum, who discharged a firearm during a barricade situation in Cockeysville on Wednesday afternoon, injuring one officer.

Police say the injured officer has been released from the hospital.

Linthicum is a white male, 5’7″ tall, weighing 165 pounds with long auburn colored hair, and a beard. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

He is considered armed-and-dangerous. Anyone who sees David Linthicum should dial 9-1-1.
