Driver ejected after tractor-trailer falls from Baltimore County bridge, Metro shut down

UPDATE: The Metro has reopened but I-795 remains shut down.  Baltimore County Public Schools officials have issued the following statement:

BCPS is preparing for possible traffic delays this afternoon due to a serious accident that is impacting I-695 and I-795 near Pikesville.  (The Baltimore County Fire Department) has advised motorists to avoid the impacted areas. Bus transportation may be impacted as well. We will work as quickly as possible to transport students safely this afternoon.

PIKESVILLE, MD—Crews are on the scene of a serious, Monday afternoon crash in Baltimore County.

At around 1:15 p.m., units responded to I-795 at the I-695 ramp for a report of a tractor-trailer crash.

The Baltimore County Fire Department reports that a tractor-trailer overturned and fell from the I-795 overpass.  The driver was ejected and a rescue is under way.

Northbound I-795 has been shut down and Metro service has been stopped.

A Maryland State Police helicopter is being dispatched to fly the patient to Shock Trauma.

Hazmat crews are also responding. Motorists should avoid the area.
