Fallston cook claims winning $50,000 lottery scratch-off prize

FALLSTON, MD—A stop for coffee with his father and niece turned into a once-in-a-lifetime Maryland Lottery experience for a 35-year-old Fallston resident. He told officials that discovering a $50,000 scratch-off prize at the Royal Farms at 1915 Belair Road in Fallston was the luckiest moment in his life.

The Harford County man, who works as a cook, picked out three scratch-offs while his dad and niece waited in the car.

“I buy tickets twice a week. One day is for Keno, the other is for instant tickets.”

He picked his day and game type very well, which became clear when he scratched his $50,000 Cash instant ticket in the Royal Farms parking lot.

“I saw the $50,000 match and started shaking. My dad noticed when the whole car started shaking with me.”

After the winner struggled to get the words out about his luck, his father asked him three times if he was sure.

“He wanted to make sure about the win before he started celebrating with me.”

Amazingly, the niece who was asleep in the back seat didn’t wake up.
