JOPPA, MD—An Abingdon man has cashed in after buying a winning scratch-off in Joppa.
Larry Rexroth enjoys playing Maryland Lottery games, particularly the scratch-offs that he buys several times a week. The Abingdon resident is also no stranger to Lottery second-chance promotions, having won Contestant of the Game honors for a prior Home Run Riches promotion. This time, Larry found $50,000 worth of good fortune playing a $50,000 Cash scratch-off.
The 61-year-old was visiting the Royal Farms store located at 500 Joppa Farm Road in Joppa on a Sunday morning when he spotted the Maryland Lottery kiosk being loaded with $50,000 Cash instant tickets. Larry told officials that he typically doesn’t like the number one or 30 game in the scratch-off book, but this time, he had a different feeling. The Harford County man decided to buy the first scratch-off in the book and scored a $50,000 top prize.
After discovering his winning scratch-off, “I had to sit for a minute,” Larry said.
His daughter was the first person he phoned to share his great news. He later told other family members and friends.
Larry has worked in construction for 43 years and plans to use his winnings to pay off bills.
