THE AVENUE at White Marsh temporarily updates Youth Escort Policy effective Friday

WHITE MARSH, MD—THE AVENUE at White Marsh is temporarily updating its Youth Escort Policy.

Effective Friday, January 13, the following policy will be in effect from open to close: “Visitors under the age of 17 must be accompanied by and remain under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian 21 years of age or older while visiting the shopping center.”

Although not mentioned directly, the change is presumably being made due to a recent social media post encouraging youths to “shut down” White Marsh Mall this weekend.  The post can be viewed here.

“Our policy allows for hours of enforcement to be adjusted when deemed in the best interest our shopping center and surrounding community,” said Lisa Geiger, senior marketing manager with Federal Realty, the property management company for THE AVENUE at White Marsh. “It is our belief that this is simply a temporary change as we work to support the efforts of (the Baltimore County Police Department).”

Councilman David Marks has said that police are “aware” of the post and will increase their presence in White Marsh this weekend.
