WHITE MARSH, MD—Police in Baltimore County are “aware” of a social media post hyping a large gathering at White Marsh Mall this weekend, according to Councilman David Marks.
The post, which circulated on Instagram this week, calls for individuals to “gather” to “shut down” White Marsh Mall at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 14th.
A similar gathering occurred in Towson a few weeks ago, prompting a large police presence as well as temporary road closures.
“We shut down Towson let’s make white marsh [sic] next,” reads the post, which lists an incorrect address for the mall, but then lists the correct one in the comments section.
“Our office has been in touch with the Baltimore County Police Department’s White Marsh precinct,” said Councilman Marks on Wednesday. “They are aware of a social media post regarding a possible gathering at White Marsh Mall.”
“The precinct has known about this since Monday and will have a robust presence at the mall,” Councilman Marks added. “I am confident they are doing their best to anticipate any unlawful activities that jeopardize the safety of the White Marsh Town Center. I personally will not accept any disruptive behavior and will push for consequences for anyone who creates disruption at our commercial centers.”
