Glen Burnie veteran is Maryland’s newest lottery millionaire

BALTIMORE, MD—An Anne Arundel County resident paid attention when he had a lucky feeling about the number 43. He didn’t have a clue as to how that particular number would play out for him other than knowing 43 would play a key role in a big Maryland Lottery win.

When he bought a $20 Show Me $1,000,000! instant ticket, the matching number that won him the game’s $1 million top prize was the number 43!

The U.S. Navy retiree, who claimed his prize last week, told Maryland Lottery officials that he was at a bar having a beer when the number 43 popped into his mind. The number felt so lucky he decided to stop at a nearby Maryland Lottery retailer.

The Glen Burnie resident visited 7-Eleven located at 500 Donaldson Avenue in Severn. He looked at the Show Me $1,000,000! scratch-off because it offers no prize less than $40. The loyal player cashed in a $120 winning instant ticket and bought multiple Show Me $1,000,000! scratch-offs.

Even as he was playing the instant tickets, the scratch-off fan said he knew the number 43 was coming to give him his win. Then, a matching number 43 appeared with the $1 million prize beneath it.

“I flipped out, I was dumbfounded, I couldn’t believe it,” the lucky man said.

The new millionaire has shared the great news with family and friends but doesn’t yet have plans for his prize.
