EDGEWATER, MD—A small plane crashed in Maryland on Monday morning.

At around 10:30 a.m., a small plane missed the runway at Lee Airport in Riva and went into a creek.

Initially, reports indicated that several people were in the water, however those were determined to be Good Samaritans attempting to  rescue the pilot, who was the only occupant of the plane.

Medical personnel are now evaluating the pilot.  The plane remains submerged in Beards Creek.
