Obituary: Viola ‘Vi’ Frances Schafer

PERRY HALL, MD—An iconic member of the Perry Hall community has passed.  Viola “Vi” Schafer died on November 2, 2022.

“‘Vi’ was a beloved member of our Perry Hall community, and the Schafer family was key to its development after the Second World War,” said Councilman David Marks on Friday. “The original library was located on land owned by the family, and Vi’s husband Dick constructed the brick homes in the area along Carlisle Avenue. Truly a great family in our community led for many years by Vi!”

On November 2, 2022, Viola “Vi” Frances Schafer (nee Soth) passed away; beloved wife of the late William “Dick” J. Schafer; devoted mother of Yvonne M. Treptow and her husband Ronald and William “Billy” J. Schafer Jr. and his wife Karen; loving grandmother of William Rock and his wife Melanie, Nicholas Schafer and his wife Laura and Bailey Schafer Ness and her husband Christopher Ness; great-grandmother of Lia Marie Rock and Owen and Margaret Ann Schafer.

Visiting at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A., 11750 Belair Road (Kingsville) on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, 2-5 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church (Fullerton) on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at 11 am. Interment St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
