Crash with wires down, fuel spill reported in Rosedale

UPDATE: Due to electrified wires under the vehicle, the driver was trapped in their car for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. BGE had to respond and cut off power before emergency personnel could get close enough to rescue the driver.

ROSEDALE, MD—Crews are on the scene of a serious, Thursday afternoon crash in the Rosedale area.

The crash was reported at around 4 p.m. in the 9000-block of Franklin Square Drive (21237).



The single-vehicle accident brought down wires and caused fuel to leak from an electrical transformer.  One trapped individual has been rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.

Maryland Department of the Environment crews are handling the clean-up of the fluid leak.  Motorists should use caution in the area.
