Bowleys Quarters gas station sells winning $100,000 Maryland Lottery scratch-off

BOWLEYS QUARTERS, MD—A Baltimore man is laughing all the way to the bank after buying a winning Maryland Lottery scratch-off in Bowleys Quarters.

Gordon Tegges is an avid player who enjoys playing both scratch-offs and draw games, having won $500 in the past. His decision to give the $5 Ravens X5 instant ticket a try resulted in a $100,000 score – his biggest win yet!

Lottery luck was waiting for the 68-year-old at Cheema Brothers BP gas station located at 17 Carroll Island Road. Gordon bought $40 worth of instant tickets there and went on his way.

Later that day, while scratching off the Ravens X5 instant ticket, he suddenly had a feeling that something was different about the scratch-off. That feeling was accurate. All Gordon could say to himself was, “Wow!” once he realized that he held a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off in his hands. The lucky retiree found the first top-prize winning scratch-off in the game, which went on sale in August.

The happy winner has shared his fantastic news with close family members and friends. Gordon told Maryland Lottery officials that he always said to himself that if he ever won the lottery, the first thing he would do was financially help family members and friends in need and that’s what he plans to do.

Retired after working 37 years for Amtrak, he currently has a part-time wood-working job. He also enjoys fishing and crabbing.

Also a winner for its sale of a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off is the lucky retailer. Cheema Brothers BP in Baltimore County earns a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
