Winner claims $2.2 million Multi-Match jackpot after buying ticket in Middle River

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—A $6 quick-pick Multi-Match ticket did the trick for a loyal Lottery player, who won the jackpot in the August 18 drawing. The annuity value that night was $2.2 million, and the winner decided to take the $1.6 million cash option. He is the second player to win a Multi-Match jackpot in 2022.

On Wednesday, August 24, the anonymous Marylander claimed the biggest prize he’s won in 40 years of playing Maryland Lottery games. He said he plans to help others using his prize, which he describes as a blessing.

The lucky winner said he’s had trouble sleeping since confirming his multimillionaire status. “I still cannot believe it,” he said.

The businessman visited the Royal Farms store located at 11905 Market Way in White Marsh/Middle River (21220) on August 18 to purchase the ticket and played three panels, letting the terminal randomly quick-pick eight of the nine lines on his ticket. It was one of those quick-pick lines that did the trick. The next day, when he went to buy another Lottery game, he checked the Multi-Match ticket and was astonished to find out he was a multimillionaire.

Pick 4 and Multi-Match are his favorite games, the winner said, and he plans to keep playing them in the future. “I’ve got tickets in my pocket for tonight,” he said, smiling.

No one will be the wiser about his Lottery luck because the player is determined to keep his win a secret. He said only one person knows of his jackpot win and he plans to keep it that way.

The lucky Royal Farms store in White Marsh/Middle River is also a winner. The Baltimore County business receives a $2,200 bonus from the Lottery for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
