Ominous storm cloud forms over Seven Courts community

NOTTINGHAM, MD—Was it a tornado? Was it a funnel cloud?

An ominous storm cloud was filmed over the Seven Courts community in Perry Hall/Nottingham on Monday afternoon.

The pics were snapped at around 4:45 p.m. as severe storms rolled through the area.

“This one formed rather quickly. Very cool to watch – and slightly terrifying,” said resident Aaron Stanley, who sent the photos to NottinghamMD.com.

No tornado warnings have been issued for the Nottingham area, so this would appear to be a SCUD cloud.

Pannus, or SCUD clouds, is a type of fractus cloud at low height above ground, detached, and of irregular form, found beneath nimbostratus, cumulonimbus, altostratus and cumulus clouds. These clouds are often ragged or wispy in appearance.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch and Flood Watch remain in effect for the Nottingham area.
