TOWSON, MD—Baltimore County police officers will be wearing a memorial ribbon bar on their uniforms or a mourning band on their badges on Saturday in memory of a fallen hero.
On May 21, 2018, Officer Amy Sorrells Caprio, 29, responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle with multiple suspicious subjects walking between homes on Linwen Way in Nottingham (21236).
When she arrived and located the vehicle, she got out of her police car and ordered the driver to exit the vehicle. Instead, the driver accelerated and fatally struck Officer Caprio.
Officer Caprio was nearly a four-year veteran of the police department and was married.
Officer Amy Caprio’s name, along with the names of other fallen heroes, is inscribed on a monument at Patriot Plaza in Towson.
