Pedestrian killed on I-83 in Baltimore County

UPDATE: The pedestrian has been identified as 17-year-old Kingdavid Okolo of Cockeysville.  A GoFundMe page has been started by his family.

COCKEYSVILLE, MD—Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on Wednesday morning in Baltimore County.

At just after 4:45 a.m., troopers responded to southbound Interstate 83, just south of Shawan Road, for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

According to a preliminary investigation, a male ran out onto the roadway when he was struck by a tractor-trailer.

The pedestrian, whose identity is unknown at this time, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer remained at the scene.  No other injuries were reported in connection with this incident. Southbound I-83 was closed for several hours following the crash.
