Middle River woman cashes in with winning $25,000 Pick 5 ticket

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—On Friday, the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 game gave a 66-year-old Middle River woman a big, $25,000 win.

The Baltimore County resident cashed in on the March 18 midday drawing using the numbers 1, 8, 9, 7 and 5.

“I was just bewildered when I saw it,” she said. “I had just been talking to my brother on the phone about paying a bill, and then WHAM!”

She checked her tickets using the Maryland Lottery app after ending her phone call and there they were, the numbers from her license plate that she’d used for a Pick 5 combination.

“I sat there thinking to myself, ‘Could I really just have won?’”

The first thing the healthcare worker did after winning her $25,000 prize was take her granddaughter on a shopping spree.

“The rest will go toward knocking out those bills that have been bothering me.”

Getting the assist is the Shoppers located at 1200 Eastern Avenue in Baltimore. The store, which sold the $25,000 winning ticket, earns a $250 bonus for its lucky sale.
