BALTIMORE, MD—Amtrak has temporarily suspended service in the northeast corridor due to a derailment.
On Saturday morning, the company announced that due to a Norfolk Southern freight derailment near Aberdeen, Amtrak service will be temporarily suspended between New York and Washington, D.C.
Officials say crews are working to repair the track and service will be restored as quickly as possible.
Customers with reservations on trains that are being modified will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day.
Amtrak says the company will waive additional charges for customers looking to change their reservation during the modified schedule by calling Amtrak’s reservation center at 1-800-USA-RAIL.
