NOTTINGHAM, MD—The National Weather Service has accelerated the timeline for Thursday’s Winter Weather Advisory as frozen precipitation begins to enter the Baltimore area.
On Thursday morning, NWS issued the following statement:
“As of 9:14 AM, we are starting the Winter Weather Advisory and Ice Storm Warning now. This will account for intermittent freezing rain today. Tonight into early Friday is expected to bring a more impactful period of freezing rain, especially in the Ice Storm Warning area.”
Mixed precipitation is expected throughout the day. Ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch are likely. Sleet accumulations of around half an inch are possible.
Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.
