High winds bring down trees, power lines around Nottingham area

NOTTINGHAM, MD—Friday morning’s high winds wreaked havoc in and around the Nottingham area, bringing down trees and power lines and blowing transformers.

Fire department units from White Marsh, Kingsville, Perry Hall, Fullerton, Long Green, Chase, Middle River, and Fallston responded to dozens of incidents involving downed trees and arcing wires.

Below are just a few of the incidents that were reported, according to the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company:



  • White Marsh, 5200 block Bush St (wires down and arcing)
  • Perry Hall, 4300 block Silver Spring Rd between Garland Ave and Manorfield Rd (tree and wires down across entire road and on top of two vehicles)
  • Kingsville, Bradshaw and Jerusalem roads (transformer arcing)
  • Fullerton, Belair and Ridge roads (wires down in road)
  • Baldwin, Long Green, 13400 block Fork Rd (live wires down in road)
  • Chase, Ebenezer and Earls roads (wires arcing)
  • Middle River, 9800 block Philadelphia Rd near Ravenswood Rd (transformer arcing)
  • Hydes, 12950 block Harford Rd near Little Gunpowder Falls (wires and arcing from fallen tree)
  • Kingsville, 11200 block Pfeffers Rd (tree fell onto house)
  • Chase, Ebenezer Rd and Earls Beach Rd (transformer arcing)

BGE crews are actively responding to power outages. Anyone experiencing an outage or spotting a downed wire should contact BGE at 1-877-778-2222 or by texting OUT to MYBGE (69243).
