NOTTINGHAM, MD—The National Weather Service is warning of an increased fire risk in the Nottingham area on Friday.
Forecasters say gusty winds are expected on Friday afternoon across much of the area.
Low relative humidity is forecast during this time as well, with values nearing 30 percent.
Additionally, dry conditions over the past several days have dried out fuels across the area.
All of these factors combined could result in an elevated risk for the spread of fires on Friday afternoon.
Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged during this time. Citizens should refer to local burn permitting authorities on whether they can burn.
Anyone who does burn is urged to use extreme caution and ensure fire suppression is readily available.
