Fatal, wrong way crash on I-95 leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

ROSEDALE, MD—An early morning, wrong way crash on Interstate 95 has left one man dead and two others injured.

The Maryland State Police report that Jose Carlos Oviedo Herrera, 22, of Baltimore. died in the crash.  Herrera was operating a silver Volkswagen and was pronounced dead at the scene.



A 36-year-old Bel Air man, who was driving a Ford F-150. was taken to Bayview Hospital for medical treatment. He had a 14-year-old in the passenger seat who was also taken to the hospital.

At around 6:45 a.m. on Sunday morning, police responded to a crash involving two vehicles in the Express Toll Lanes on southbound I-95 in the Rosedale area.

According to the preliminary investigation, police believe Herrera was driving northbound in the southbound lanes when he struck the Ford F-150 head-on. The cause and contributing factors of the crash remain under investigation.

The southbound lanes were closed for about four hours. The investigation continues at this hour.
