Baltimore County hiring school crossing guards

TOWSON, MD—The Baltimore County Police Department is hiring men and women to serve as school crossing guards.

Anyone who has been considering ways to become more involved in the community while getting paid to do so should consider applying.

Parents, grandparents, college students, or anyone who wants to help ensure the safety of children to and from school are welcome to apply.  The greatest need for crossing guards is in the Dundalk area, according to BCoPD.

The pay is currently $13.97 per hour and the time commitment is only two hours daily, Monday through Friday. When schools have off due to inclement weather, so do crossing guards…without loss of pay.  School crossing guards incur paid leave as years of experience are accumulated.  There are paid national and state holidays from September through June and equipment and uniforms are free of charge.

Those who wish to apply to the Baltimore County Police Department for the position of crossing guard must be at least 18 years old. All applicants will undergo a background check, including fingerprinting and a medical screening.
