CCBC Essex’s Patricia Anumgba named December Maryland JUCO Athlete of the Month

ROSEDALE, MD—The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference this week announced that it has selected Patricia Anumgba (women’s basketball) and Ricardo Ross (men’s basketball) its Athletes of the Month for December 2021.

Anumgba (CCBC Essex) and the Knights went 5-0 in December and played the final three games without their NJCAA Division II leading scorer and Anumgba filled the void, averaging 26.4 points per game (51.4% field goals), 8.2 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 4.8 steals. On 12/10 against then No. 4 ranked Monroe College (Bronx), Anumgba scored a career-high 35 points on 16-35 shooting (45.7%) and 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.



The next day, she scored 31 points (12-20) with six rebounds, six assists and six steals against Niagara County Community College. On 12/14, against then ranked No. 11 Union County College, Anumgba had another double-double, this time on 29 points (11-21, 52.4%) and 11 rebounds. For her efforts, she earned NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Player of the Week (Week 6, December 6-12).

Ross (Harford Community College) helped lead the Fighting Owls to a 5-2 record in December, shooting 61.5% for the field and 50% (15-30) from behind the arc. He scored in double digits in all seven games, with three games of 20 or more, including 27 points in a 67-62 win over Frederick Community College (12/1). In his other 20-point games, Ross scored 22 against College of Southern Maryland (12/13) and 24 versus Delaware Tech (12/18). He currently ranks seventh in the Maryland Juco Conference in assists (3.9) and steals (2.3) per game.
