NOTTINGHAM, MD—Sunday afternoon’s winter storm was a bit of a letdown for local powder-hounds in that most of the snow was washed away within a few hours, but forecasters say two more systems could provide accumulating snow in Maryland this week.
The National Weather Service says another arctic air mass will head southward from Canada this week and could drop a quick inch or two of snow in central Maryland from Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
That cold front could provide the perfect set-up for another winter storm that will likely march up the east coast Friday night and into Saturday. Forecasters say this system could produce another foot or more of snow from Virginia to New Jersey, but it’s too soon to lock in any snowfall totals.
The storm’s exact track remains uncertain and there’s still a chance it could slide out to sea.
Regardless, the weather pattern will remain active afterward, according to AccuWeather. There will likely be additional storms with areas of snow and ice every several days that come about over the next couple of weeks at least.
