PERRY HALL, MD—Baltimore County Councilman David Marks on Monday announced that the section of Forge Road east of the Perry Hall Farms neighborhood has been approved for seven new speed bumps.
Construction is expected to occur this spring. The project is expected to cost $35,000.
“I would like to thank Jessica Douglass, the neighbor who initiated this request and obtained the signatures,” said Councilman Marks. “Any citizen can request traffic calming. Once a road qualifies thanks to its design, volume, and the speed of motorists, any traffic calming request must be approved by an overwhelming majority of residents along the corridor.”
Other petitions are underway along Necker Avenue and Mount Vista Road.
Over the past five years, traffic calming has also been implemented along routes such as Schroeder Avenue, Baker Lane, Ebenezer Road, and Klausmier Road.
“Traffic calming would not be needed if motorists didn’t speed, and police cannot be everywhere” added Councilman Marks. “These projects are not perfect, but they help.”
