NOTTINGHAM, MD—A large winter storm will bring widespread snow, sleet, and freezing rain to many areas in the eastern third of the country this weekend.
Significant impacts due to snow are likely, and damaging sleet and freezing rain are expected as well. Winter Storm Watches have been posted for Maryland’s western counties.
In the Baltimore area, the National Weather Service says the precipitation should arrive as heavy snowfall on Sunday afternoon and evening. Gusty winds may also lead to localized power outages and wind damage.
Overnight, the precipitation is expected to sleet then freezing rain before ending on Monday as rain.
Around 3 – 4 inches of snowfall accumulation are expected, followed by accumulating sleet and freezing rain.
The forecast is changing rapidly and residents should stay tuned for any further changes.
