BWI hits 68 degrees on Christmas Day

BALTIMORE, MD—Christmas Day 2021 was a warm one in the Baltimore area, but it didn’t set a record.

The temperature reached 68 degrees at BWI today, just shy of the record of 72 degrees set back in 1964.

High December temperatures are not a reliable indicator of how much snow the area will see in any given winter season.

On Christmas Eve in 2015, the Baltimore area hit a record high of 71 degrees. One month later, the region experienced a massive snowstorm that produced a record 30 inches of snow.

Sunday will also be mild in the Baltimore area with temperatures in the mid-50s before a cold front moves through, possibly producing a wintry mix heading into Monday morning.
