Councilman Marks: Petition for traffic light, circle at Honeygo & Cross garners more than 2,000 signatures in two days

PERRY HALL, MD—Baltimore County Councilman David Marks on Monday thanked the more than 2,000 residents who have signed an online petition supporting a traffic light or circle at a busy Perry Hall intersection.

The petition comes in the wake of a rash of recent accidents at the intersection of Honeygo Boulevard and Cross Road that were caught on film and uploaded to YouTube.

Launched by local resident Tracey McGregor Mason, the petition had secured 2,106 signatures as of Monday morning.

Councilman Marks contacted the Baltimore County Department of Transportation on Monday morning about the petition and once again urged the agency to approve safety improvements.  Marks says years of requests have been rejected by traffic engineers.

“We are dealing with a crisis of crashes in northeastern Baltimore County, part of a nationwide trend that has worsened since the start of the pandemic,” said Councilman Marks. “More police enforcement is not the answer, because the police cannot be stationed here all the time. We need engineering changes, and now.”

The online petition can be viewed and signed here.  The crash video compilation can be viewed here.
