NOTTINGHAM, MD—Baltimore County Councilman David Marks on Wednesday congratulated Perry Hall resident Julie Henn on being named chair of the Baltimore County Board of Education.
In Baltimore County, seven board members are elected by council district, with four appointed by the Governor. The chair and vice-chair are elected by members.
Henn shares the same Fifth District constituency as Councilman Marks.
“I would like to congratulate my colleague, Julie Henn, on being elected to this important position,” said Marks. “We have worked together on numerous issues in the Fifth District, including school construction and renovation, and I look forward to collaboration on countywide priorities such as reforms to the Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance, transportation, and improvements to the learning environment. Julie is a hard worker and will serve the county well.”
Henn was first appointed to the Board of Education as a member-at-large in 2016. She was elected in 2018 to serve a four-year term representing District 5.
Henn currently works for the Community College of Baltimore County and is an information technology professional. Prior to joining the Board, she served on the Northeast Area Education Advisory Council, the Superintendent’s Parents’ Advisory Council, and the Transportation Advisory Committee.
