TOWSON, MD—Baltimore County’s “Shop with a Cop” event returns next week.
This year will mark the 20th annual “Shop with a Cop” in Baltimore County. One hundred officers and 100 children from the 10 precincts will start out at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 11 to celebrate.
At approximately 8 a.m., the officers and children will arrive at the Walmart store in Cockeysville (1 Frankel Way). As they arrive, they will be greeted by members of the Optimist Clubs. Seasonal music will be performed by Dulaney High School students.
The children and their officer buddies will do their holiday shopping with money provided by the Optimist Clubs of Baltimore County. Each child will receive $100 to spend as he or she chooses. Usually, the children buy presents for family and friends.
This special Baltimore County Police Department tradition is the largest event of its kind in the state.
Officials say officers eagerly anticipate “Shop with a Cop” each year and the joy that it brings to children in the community.
