Freeze Warning issued for Friday morning in Baltimore area

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The National Weather Service has upgraded the previous Frost Advisory for the Baltimore area to a Freeze Warning.

The warning covers southern Baltimore County and Baltimore City and will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday.  Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees are expected.

Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation, and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Residents are urged to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.

Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.\
