Rabid coyote attacks dog, owner in Overlea

OVERLEA, MD—Health officials are warning local residents after a rabid coyote attacked a dog and its owner in Overlea this week.

The incident occurred on Thursday, October 21, in Holt Park, near Overlea High School and Elmwood Elementary School.



The coyote was captured and has tested positive for rabies.

The animal has since been euthanized.

Rabies is a serious infection that can lead to death unless persons exposed to it receive immediate medical care.

Anyone who believes they may have come in contact with the coyote is urged to contact Baltimore County Animal Services at 410-832-7182 or 410-887-5963.
