WASHINGTON, DC—All U.S. flags will be flown at half-staff on Saturday in recognition of the 40th annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, which will be held at the U.S. Capitol.
No flag may fly higher than the American flag. The annual event is being held as part of National Police Week.
The National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, which is sponsored by the Grand Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, is one in a series of events which includes the Candlelight Vigil, which is sponsored by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) and seminars sponsored by Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.).
The service pays respect to law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty and their families.
