MIDDLE RIVER, MD—The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum at Martin State Airport will be hosting an Open Cockpit Day, a fun day of aviation when visitors are provided with up close experiences with airplanes, getting a glimpse inside aircraft on the Museum’s outdoor flight-line.
The event will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
Open Cockpit Day is a fun, aviation STEM day for children as they see the various sizes and designs of wings and propellers that assist in navigating the four forces of flight.
Arriving at the flight-line by shuttle bus, visitors will climb the pilot stairs at each aircraft to look down at controls where the pilot operates the planes such as military jets, flight trainers, and a Huey helicopter – and also board a 1952 Martin 404 passenger airliner built by Middle River’s Glenn L. Martin Company.
The last shuttle bus to the airplanes departs at 1 p.m. and returns at 2:15 p.m. The Museum will remain open until 3 p.m. for exploring the indoor exhibits.
Admission to this special event is $7 for adults and $5 for children. Rain date is Saturday, October 23rd. For weather related information on this event, visit www.mdairmuseum.org.
