Memorial sign requested for Stanley Vingsen, ‘walking man’ who was killed on Pulaski Highway

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—Friends and family members of a local man who was struck and killed on Pulaski Highway want him to be memorialized.

Stanley Vingsen Jr., known by many for decades as the “walking man” who could often be seen walking in and around the Nottingham area, was killed on Saturday, September 18, while crossing Route 40 near Campbell Boulevard.

A memorial road sign has been requested to be placed at 9955 Pulaski Highway in Middle River.

Friends & family members say they need more local residents to request the memorial sign by sending a email to [email protected] and referencing MDOT SHA Case # SR-0444139.

The family of Stanley Vingsen is also inviting the public to a candlelight vigil to be held at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, in the parking lot of Costco Plaza, located at 9955 Pulaski Highway.

A “Remembering Mr. Stanley” Facebook page has been established as well as an event page for the candlelight vigil.

A makeshift memorial has also been erected at the site of the accident (photo below).
