Flooding in Harford County traps motorists, prompts rescues

HARFORD COUNTY, MD—While the Nottingham area managed escape any major flooding on Thursday morning, motorists is Harford County weren’t so lucky.

In the span of two hours, swift water rescues were reported in the areas of Route 40 at Beards Hill Road (Aberdeen), Aldino Stepney Road between MD-22 and Gilbert Road (Aberdeen), the 1400-block of Perryman Road (Aberdeen), Philadelphia Road at Calvary Road (Abingdon), the 1800-block of Park Beach Road (Aberdeen), and Route 40 at Short Lane (Aberdeen).



In the Nottingham area, one three-vehicle crash was reported in front of Joppa View Elementary school at just after 11 a.m.

Between 5 and 11 a.m., Maryland State Police say they responded to 66 crashes, 7 roadway hazards (i.e. – downed trees, flooding, and downed wires), and 13 disabled/unattended vehicles.

Troopers also answered 255 calls for service over this time.
