TOWSON, MD—Authorities are on the scene of an early-morning triple shooting that was reported at Towson University.
Three individuals were transported to local hospitals after being shot on the campus at just after 2 a.m. on Saturday.
The victims were at a gathering in the center of campus when the shooting occurred. The victims are expected to survive. At this point, it appears the shooting was an isolated incident.
The route for Saturday morning’s Charles Street12-Mile Run had to be altered due to significant police activity.
Towson University sent the following alert to students:
Dear Towson University students, faculty and staff —
At approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday three people were shot while part of a group of people gathered in Freedom Square, a location in the academic part of TU’s campus. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
Towson University’s Office of Public Safety continues to work closely with Baltimore County Police as the investigation into this incident continues and the victims identified.
At this time, the scene is secure; however, we’re encouraging everyone, including all students, to remain away from the academic part of campus as police activity is ongoing.

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski issued the following statement:
We are committed to keeping all of our residents safe, including those in our college communities. This act of violence on one of our campuses is extremely troubling.
Baltimore County Police responded quickly to assist Towson University police and are working diligently to investigate.
