NOTTINGHAM, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory and the Maryland Department of the Environment has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for the Baltimore metro area on Friday.
Heat index values of 105 to 108 degrees are expected through the afternoon and early evening hours.
Isolated severe storms along with isolated instances of flash flooding are possible during the afternoon and evening hours Friday through Saturday.
A Code Orange Air Quality Alert will also be in effect on Friday. A Code Orange means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases and
the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
