Storms possible, heat index to approach 110 degrees this week

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The heat is on, and a few strong storms are likely to pop up along with it.

The National Weather Service says isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and isolated flooding will be possible on Tuesday afternoon.  The heat index is expected to reach 103 degrees on Tuesday.

Looking ahead, heat index values of 100 to 109 are likely during the afternoon hours all week long.

Isolated severe storms along with isolated instances of flash flooding are possible during the afternoon and evening hours from Wednesday through Saturday.
